Mission
Shift assistive navigation from reactive to proactive. Give blind users the answer to "where am I going?" Not just "what's in front of me."

Team
Kevin builds the software. Ryan designs the hardware. Roy runs operations. We met through a shared obsession with accessibility. Kevin volunteers at the Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington. Ryan has years of engineering experience, having made an accessible wheelchair capstone. Roy brings hands-on systems experience, having worked on robotics/embedded systems in the past.

Goals
Ship a sub-$750 system that outperforms $50,000 guide dogs. Run beta pilots with O&M training centers. Put proactive navigation in the hands of the 43 million who need it.

Traction
Building on a first-place AwardX International win ($5k) for our previous assistive tech venture, we have developed a fully functional, patent-pending prototype proven to increase navigation speed by 2.5x in real-world trials. We have further solidified our traction through active validation partnerships with industry leaders like the Prevention of Blindness Society and the American Foundation for the Blind.

Intelligence & Safety
Across 1,000 test episodes in never-before-seen environments, Navis reduced collision rate from 91% (Standard PID control) to 4%. This comes from our hierarchical approach: the high-level planner chooses safe semantic waypoints, while a reinforcement-learning controller handles real-time obstacle avoidance.

Our Novel Software Architecture
Navis solves ‘viewpoint variance’—the drone sees from above while the cane sees from ground level—by using SRGA-HDC. The drone builds a scene graph of objects and spatial relationships, compresses it into a compact ‘location fingerprint,’ and the cane matches it from a different angle with 97% accuracy.

Navigate Faster & Safer
In pilot testing, a visually impaired user navigated an unfamiliar room 2.5× faster with Navis than with a traditional white cane.

How is NAVIS different from everything else on the market?
Every existing assistive mobility solution is purely reactive—they help you avoid obstacles, but they can't help you actually get somewhere. A white cane detects things after you nearly hit them. Smartphone GPS can't even work indoors. Our competitor Glidance asks "What's in my way?" but can't answer the real question people need solved: "Where is the bathroom?" NAVIS is the world's first proactive destination-finding system. Say "take me to the bathroom," and our drone autonomously scouts the space, maps a path, and guides you there with continuous haptic feedback. That's the difference between reactive safety and transformative autonomy.
